WOMEN IN CYCLING
BOOSTING DIVERSITY IN THE CYCLING SECTOR
“Our vision is for a diverse, inclusive cycling sector providing equal opportunities contributes to achieving cycling’s full potential.”
The Women in Cycling network (WiC) brings together women+ working across the cycling sector to increase their visibility, influence, and access to leadership positions. Women+ remain underrepresented across the cycling sector, particularly in decision-making roles. We believe that promoting greater gender equality in the cycling sector is the key to get more people cycling. We welcome all women+ working in cycling to join us to shape the sector forward!
Women in Cycling was launched in 2021 by the European Cyclists’ Federation, European Cycling Industries, Velokonzept and Mobycon. In recent years, national chapters and specific WiC networks emerged across Europe and they are doing a tremendous work of translating the Women in Cycling vision and aims into actions. At EU level, Women in Cycling ensures the coordination and links between all networks.
Check out the About Us section for more information on our activities and the Networks page to find out more about the national and sectorial chapters.
*Women in Cycling uses the term ‘women+’ to include trans and non-binary persons.
Important numbers
20% of the workforce
Only about 20% of the cycling sector workforce are women, and about 40% of them work in admin and support roles.
1/3 of daily cyclists
Roughly only one-third (30–40%) of everyday cyclists across Europe are women, though this rises to parity in countries with high-quality cycling infrastructure.

More visibility for women+ at events
Whether through online webinars or in-person conferences, we offer women+ visibility at key events and campaign for no more all-male panels at cycling sector events. Every year WiC organizes sessions and networking opportunities at key international cycling sector events such as Velo-city and Eurobike.
