WiC: A growing movement
Building on the momentum of the Women in Cycling initiative, national chapters and specific WiC networks are now emerging across Europe to bring the network closer to local communities and specific realities.
These chapters act as local hubs for connection, support, and action, creating space for women+ working in cycling to meet, exchange, and collaborate within their own countries and regions.
While the European network provides a shared vision and common values, these new WiC chapters ensure that this vision is translated into concrete, context-specific impact.

Our vision is for a 50:50 representation of women in the cycling ecosystem. This includes members of boards and women in leadership positions, strengthening the visibility of women in the cycling ecosystem, as well as increasing the number of female cyclists (women as a new and growing target group) and closing the gender data gap by pushing for new studies and acquiring data on women in the cycling sector.

The Women in Mountain Biking (WiMTB) Network is an IMBA Europe initiative dedicated to building a more equitable, visible, and connected future for women+ in the European mountain bike sector. Rooted in the belief that the sport thrives when every voice is recognised, the network brings together a diverse community of women+ whose expertise and leadership continually shape the landscapes, stories, and experiences of mountain biking across the continent.
The network is coordinated by IMBA Europe’s staff and board, and supported by a committed steering committee, the network provides a structured space for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and sector-wide engagement. Its purpose is not only to elevate women+ already active in the sport, but to ensure their contributions are understood as integral — central to the development, sustainability, and cultural fabric of mountain biking.
Women in Cycling Poland is dedicated to creating a space for women working in the cycling industry and involved in cycling to connect and support one another. Our mission is to increase the visibility of Polish female athletes and leaders in the industry, support the professional development of women from junior levels to professional cycling, and strive for equality in salaries, prizes, and opportunities. We aim to develop initiatives related to women’s cycling, ensure safety and community support, build a network of cooperation in Poland and around the world, educate and raise awareness about the role of women in cycling, and encourage future generations of girls to ride bicycles.
WiC Benelux
Women in Cycling Benelux is a network dedicated to connecting women and allies across sectors to raise awareness that gender deeply shapes how we see and experience the world, our cities, and society.
The Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) is a global leader in cycling culture, infrastructure, and innovation. From the Netherlands’ extensive cycling networks to Belgium’s heritage of racing and Luxembourg’s growing commitment to sustainable mobility, this region has the potential to set an example for gender-inclusive cycling. However, despite this strong cycling tradition, women remain underrepresented in daily cycling and in many areas of the industry.
We aim to raise awareness of barriers women face and foster an inclusive environment that brainstorms and tests solutions – with women and for women. We aim to empower women through a range of co-created activities.
